Thank you for your support at our successful protest on 12 Sep – this is creating the action and noise we need to be heard and make a change! Some of our press is below. We are grateful to all those who spoke out.
The Council has called now called an emergency meeting on 25 September at 6pm to discuss their financial problems.
Join us to attend this meeting – we will meet at 5:30pm in Victoria Square for as many of us to enter as possible (Birmingham City Council, Council House, Victoria Square, Birmingham B1 1BB). Our understanding is that you do not need to pre-register to watch the meeting but it is helpful for security if you come without rucksacks/backpacks.
The meeting is likely to be important because the council will be discussing how to address their financial difficulties. You can see the meeting Agenda and Appendices here.
There are many questions that emerge in this climate – for example, is spending on staffing and other costs for the Ladywood Regeneration essential spending? Who will be leading the regeneration now that Birmingham City Council is facing government intervention?
