How Berkeley Homes has got its hands on the Ladywood redevelopment profits

Thank you to Richard Hatcher for writing the below post about the Ladywood Regeneration on Birmingham Against the Cuts. The post highlights how the developer selected for the Ladywood Regeneration, St Joseph Berkeley Group, became the preferred developer.

Unsurprisingly, Birmingham City Council has not been forthcoming in revealing details about who in the council received hospitality (gifts) from Berkeley Group. However, we do know that their relationship included a trip to a major property conference in Cannes, France – as well tickets to a cricket match.

How much of whose money was spent preparing for the Ladywood regeneration and demolition project? Did we as taxpayers fund trips abroad for local councillors and/or council staff? Are our local councillors accepting gifts from developers who are planning to demolish our homes?

Birmingham City Council only provided the below limited documents to us when prompted by the Information Commissioner’s Office. We have requested more information. What do you think of the information they have provided?
