Sent from a resident group to Birmingham City Council – reposted here with permission.
Dear Administrators/ Management Team Berkley Homes/ St Joseph’s/ Acting on Behalf of Birmingham City Council Ref Ladywood Regeneration.
I wish to express concern at the extremely short notification of meeting dates for such an extremely important project.
This is email is dated 25th November 15:08 hrs giving * just 4 Days notice* of very important consultation meetings for the whole of the Project Impacted Persons etc.*
We are also aware that postal correspondence was sent out and the notice period was also even shorter by the time the *undated* post actually arrived and was seen on the evening of 28th November , with the first meeting been scheduled the next day 29th November 2025 .
More time for the post should have been allowed, at this time of the year, when postal volumes tend to increase.
By the time the post was seen it was too late/ not possible to try to attend a next day Safurday meeting and the week day appointments just as difficult / challenging, without proper prior reasonable advance notice.
Have found out also by chance meeting due on 28th was Cancelled, this is waisting time and important opportunity for all people
We find this communucation timeliness totally unacceptable taking into account we have had challenges with communication from day one.
Where hundreds of people were shut out of the most important initial joint consultation meeting at the start owing to poor communication etc.
This is an equally challenging situation.
Clearly Communication is still a big issue in many ways and needs a review !
Perhaps you need to think about revise some of the text in the above link ??
Communication and appointment scheduling was clearly and knowingly produced way in advance not just in the last few days via your communication persons!
Additionally Royal Mail usually desire advance notice of a Bulk Mailing to prepare for its processing. I anticipate this was given also with more than 24 hrs notice.
Again long overdue significant important communication again delayed , *without proper explanation to thebimoacted persons* , based on the anticipated communication timelines from the most recent contractor meetings in the summer approx *5 -6 months ago*. 1st Meeting 1st May 2025 Last meeting 19 June 2025.
It seems that as a result of your delayed communication these latest consultation meetings are now being rushed through late in the year and you can’t even get started properly by cancelling an already late scheduled important meeting !
Also valid/ desired ovedue information is still withstanding (6 Years since the council originally announced the general propossl) ref the future of people’s homes and some land of which a percentage is completely private .
Foret about
If this is how you are operating from dayone these is limited hope for our positive outcome for the people of Ladywood.
Some of the comments made ( in the recent article) by Cllr Thompson do not represent everyone in Ladywood
The Masterplan is a crucial significant document that the people of Ladywoid are desired to be consulted on tef the desired proposal for the regeneration of Ladywood by yourselves. Ref to the link to a recent notification.
What happened to the * Being Powered By The People* situation
The people need reasonable time to properly be able read review digest, understand information provided, the best they can,v ask impirtantb questions beforehand to be able to get a response, and begin to understand the Big/Wider impact overall.
That way they have opportunities to prepare properly to contribute to such an important Significant *Consultation Meeting*.
The people Of Ladywood are worth much more than lastminute.com communication from yourselves.
How would you feel if your future was at risk and being provided with poor communication and support.
This project is significant in more ways than one this is a tester for the future, we are being tried and tested in many ways.
If timeliness knowingly cannot be met surely out of common courtesy
We await your response
