The original sales brochure for The Courtyards, which are now at risk of compulsory purchase order. The Courtyards was the name given to the three housing estates which were completed 1994. The aim of this estate was to provide affordable housing and bring professionals into the area. It was backed by Birmingham City Council and a European Union grant. Just 30 years later, there is now the threat of them being demolished to profit developers. Many of the residents do not want to leave – including original homeowners from the 90s who thought they were purchasing a home for life.
Why would anyone wish to purchase private homes in Ladywood again if their human rights will be sold to developers during the next regeneration?
